WRIT 105 College Writing I
- Students should write 4,500-5,500 words for which they are given your feedback. Feedback can take the form of written words, Screencastify (or other) videos, and face-to-face conferences. This writing should be revised by students and/or serve as scaffolded prose that will build toward future assignments in the class.
- Revision.
- Regular instructor feedback on drafts; evaluation of and feedback on final drafts.
- A research-based essay, which is one of the three major essays in the class.
- Instruction in basic research techniques and more particular attention to teaching writing without plagiarism, i.e., summary, paraphrase and direct quotation. (Note: New Student Experience class instructors send students to the library for a basic tour; 105 instructors should schedule a directive research class.)
- Review of citation requirements, from Works Cited page to introduction of quotes.
- Instruction and practice in peer review.
- Use of Canvas, at least minimally, for announcements, posting of grades, assignments and syllabi.
WRIT 106 College Writing II
